Note from Principal Smith
Hello Families!
We are so excited to have students and teachers getting into the deep, meaningful learning experiences that will set them up for success in college. Students are analyzing texts, calculating and defending their answers, writing summaries and reflections, and honing their organizational and note taking skills. As we get deeper and deeper into meaningful learning experiences and grades start to enter gradebooks, please make sure you are able to access the Infinite Campus parent portal to monitor your student’s grades, attendance, and behavior! That can be found here: Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Safety First:
HFCA’s culture can be boiled down to 3 words: safe, purposeful, and joyful. Safety comes first for a reason. We cannot meaningfully engage students in any of the challenging learning experiences required of a college preparatory education if everyone in the building is not reassured of their safety. Please know that any student who fights or instigates a fight will be expelled from HFCA.
Does your student have an adult that they trust?
A critical part of HFCA’s culture (safe, purposeful, joyful) is ensuring that every student has at least 1 adult that they have trust in. Ask your student, is there an adult at the building that you trust? If the answer is no, please contact me directly so we can address this!
Tardy to class?
Showing up on time and ready is critically important in College and Career, and it ensures a safe, purposeful school environment. If a student is tardy to class they will earn a detention that will be served that day from 3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Parents are automatically notified via text message and email when a student earns a detention.
Back to School Night
We rescheduled Back to School Night for Tuesday, September 10th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Come and meet your students teachers, walk their schedule, and see student work!
