Dear HFCA Supporters,
For Angelique, choosing Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy wasn’t just about finding a school. It was about finding the right community to grow in.
Her aunt’s friend had recommended HFCA after seeing the impact it had on her own daughter. That encouragement, paired with a positive campus tour, made an impression.
“She said it was a very beautiful school,” Angelique says. “We toured around and it seemed like a nice environment.”
Now, as a rising 9th grader, Angelique is stepping into her high school journey with pride, curiosity, and big dreams. She’s already finding her rhythm during HFCA’s Summer Bridge program and reflecting on the kind of student and leader she wants to become.
“I love math. I’ve loved it since I was nine, when I figured out multiplication. It just got easier.”
In just a few weeks, Angelique has found moments to review for MAP testing, learn new material, and step into leadership. She recently worked as a counselor for younger students, an experience that helped her build confidence and see her potential more clearly.
“I was able to grow as a leader,” she says. “It made me think about what I want to do.”
Her goals include becoming a business owner, possibly running a daycare and launching her own crochet business. She is even thinking about starting a club on campus and has her eyes on colleges like NYU. Whether through scholarships in education or track, she’s determined to make it happen.
“When I think of our pride, I think about having pride in our school and seeing how good our students are and the way they act,” she says. “I see it on field trips. Everyone has on their HFCA shirts and it’s like wow, I’m proud to be part of that now too.”
Angelique is grateful for the opportunities she’s had already. Whether it’s field trips, running track, or just hanging out with friends, each experience is helping her grow.
“To the people who make this possible, I would like to thank them,” she says. “It has been a very beautiful experience. I would hope that they keep on giving.”
We are proud to welcome Angelique into the HFCA community and to support her as she builds a future filled with possibility, creativity, and care.
Thank you,
The HFCA Team
